The Honorable Tomas de Courcy (JdL, GdS), Student to Mistress Safiye al-Konstantiniyye, Defender of Arts and Sciences for the Barony of Lions Gate.
Tomas de Courcy is a graduate from Oxford who is now employed as a tutor for Charles Blount’s children in This Year of our Lord 1535 in Apethorpe Northamptonshire, England.
He first heard about the SCA at the Minter Gardens Demo in Abbotsford. It was several years before he had both the money, time, and transportation to join the SCA, but he always kept an eye on it.
His first SCA event was the annual war between the Barony of Lions Gate and the Barony of Seagirt in AS XXXVI (2002). Since then he has spent as much time in An Tir enjoying himself and assisting the officers of the Shire as he can. He is currently the Shire’s Webminister, and Seneschal.
Tomas has been the event steward for Lionsdale Champion’s Tourney twice, in June of AS XLI with his co-steward Lord John Shewan and in June of AS XLII with HL Johanna Morgenstochter, and for Winters Tourney once in January of AS XLVI. He also co-autocratted the first Tir Righ Heraldic Symposium with Hleafdige Thora Golvik and Lady Kayleigh de Leis in XLIV.
Tomas de Courcy enjoys Cooking, Baking, Rapier, Games, Heraldry, and Marshaling. He was taken as a student by Viscountess Safiye al-Konstantiniyye (OL) on August 28, 2010 at Tir Righ August Investiture.
His Lady, Kayleigh de Leis, is an Irish woman who often accompanies him on his journeys to An Tir.
